lol - I told you I'd get to an auto build in the end, ok, so not the most exciting choice but it was the cheapest. I'll certainly be picking your brains over it - thanks for looking in.mustang1989 wrote:Sorry for not being in here. Looks like I've missed a lot Stuart . I'll go back through the thread and see what I've missed (I've already seen something about body prep and glossing).

Looking forward to your engine photos, Stuart. Sending you best wishes for managing your house, and hoping your wife feels better soon. It is great to see Mustang Joe come roaring up to both your thread and Kari’s. I will keep rooting for us all to learn from his patience with finishes. I personally find his older aircraft threads interesting as well. It makes sense to me why any Modeler with affinities for finish effects would build a few cars... or motorcycles (Torben!) to get a full tilt feel of the way paint drapes, cures and ultimately reveals itself on a surface.

Wow! Exciting isn't it? I think there might be a hole in the head gasket.
Here's the kind of flash I'm having to deal with on most of the small parts.
Is there a prize for most boring thread update? I'm hoping to start getting some paint on things this week, and I guess I need to order some BRG.
Cheers
Stuart

Just to add to the excitment - here's a picture from the other side. As you can see I'm being assisted.
All joking asides, so far I'm really enjoying building something different. I've also dry fitted all of the running geat and the fit is pretty good, good enough in fact to be able to paint the chassis/base first and then add the gubbins later.
Cheers

That's great Stuart!
The engine (I don't even have one in my MG) is really an excellent fundament for adding some details! Seriously, it asks for some details.
That flash is annoying, but ja, indeed old molds / forms Airifx has used.
Happy to see you are on it!

Cool!!! Did you already glue everything in place or is that all test fitted Stuart? How far are you going to go with the engine in terms of detail?

No that's fully assembled, and it's now had a first coat of gloss black added to it. I'll add some filler and tidy up a few seams before adding the second, and then the detail painting. If I was building a 1/24 I think I would have painted the block and the other parts first, and then assembled - however in this scale I think I can get away with it.
As for added detail, once it's put into the engine bay I think I'd like to add the leads and a few hoses - not 100% accurate maybe but enough to give a good impression.
