I find myself collecting photos as well, though most are black and white since I am a fan of the Emils mostly. But I do love all 109s! Keep the pics posting!

Bf 109F “Friedrich” and I think that one served in Operation Barbarossa?

Now I gotta ask as to how this can be identified as a Friedrich? The canopy hood is of the type used from the E-4 thru G-6. The windscreen is not visible to identify an E,F, or G type. There are no external stiffeners present for the early F, and the ground crewman is blocking view of the tailplane struts that would be visible on an Emil. Could this not also be a Gustav or later Emil? What am I missing here in the photo as a type ID peculiar to the Friedrich such as the external tail stiffeners would be on an early F?

Ol' Kev's pretty good at his 109's. Kind of like Tucohoward.

Oh I do not doubt it. I wanted to know what it was and I found it. Went to my book with 109 line drawings. The F has a circular hatch port under the canopy hood. Only the F series has that. You can barely make it out just ahead of the chevron point. Good eye Kev!

Now there is a name I haven’t heard in a long time!!

Stik I am guilty of knowing a good chunk of markings tied to models (E,F,G). The circular hatch is barely visible in the pic (unless I zoom in) and I solely relied on the known markings and camo scheme on this aircraft. I look at a lot of schemes of what I can do, what I wish I could, etc. I plan on buying the Barbarossa kit from Eduard but it’s a shame that this scheme is not in it...

Got ya! Well, the scheme looks easy enough to pull off. All you need are some kill markings, the JG54 heart, and the chevron & bars. I’m pretty sure those are all out there, just not on a single sheet. The rest is paintwork. Hell, I bet there are masks out there for much of this as well.
