Thanks Carlos. Regarding the brass rod...

Haseagwa's engine mounting design was not good. Needed to figure out how to get the engine centered with cowl and perpendicular with firewall...

I had to bore and oversized hole through the firewall. Then I drilled a 1/16 inch hole at a 90 deg angle through some a section of 0.10 styrene strip, and inserted a section of brass rod of equal diameter through the hole.

This engine mount jig was then inserted through the firewall and the engine slipped over the brass rod. With engine and cowling in place and positioned correctly , I glued in place the styrene block. Once the engine was glued in place, the brass rod was removed.

Ahhhhh! Thanks for the explanation. Now it makes sense! :hmm:

Ohhh, I have the same kit in my stash so that is good to know.

They’re super glued on. Yeah, I’ve been more careful with the antenna than the tiny fiddly bits. The antenna snapped whilst I was trying to sand excess sprue after cutting off the tree. I was nervous it would snap again when gluing it to fuselage and slip the canopy through the hole. So far, so good….

Yeah, I leave off the counterweight on the ailerons until just after it goes into the display case if I can. And if I have to I trim the edges of the radio antenna so it can be installed at the very last. Tried not doing that on the last one and of course I hooked it on my sleeve.

I gave in....I need one more started. Looks to be a simple kit, save for the canopy masking. Now to find masks. I was going to do the Frank (#61013), But apparently I bought a used kit with missing parts. I've asked Tamiya USA for replacements. They are good, but this is an old kit.

Chose this one instead....:
