Kari's Revell 1/32 Bf-110 C-2/C-7

Thank you all,

I put the seat belt side-project a little bit aside, and continued with the cockpi. Added some details, all the three different seats will anyhow be dropped into place in a later stage (or earlies when the belts are done)



Meanwhile I have started parallely working with both of the landing gear bays.
So far only black basing and a number of thin layers of RLM02 by Mister Paint added.

These bays are wonderful fundament for scratchbuilding pipes and cables.. But as my priority is to finish this build in more or a less Out of the box - fashion (belts and brake lines scratched) I will leave the bays as they are.



Let's see what next!

Man this is looking good! I am loving your approach on this build! I swear that Revell made some killer 32nd kits with the hand carved molds of that time. Very under appreciated. And you are showing how wonderfully that one can be built just with techniques. No fancy AM. Bravo!

A natural continuation for the wheel bays is of course the landing gear construction. Which again is a pretty complicated build in this kit.. At least if you believe what the instructions shows.

I kept on trying to match the pieces as instructed, politly following the instructions... But I could not figure out, how on earth to assemble the landing gear.. It just did not make sense!

Until I realized that the instructions are cruzially wrong...

Using instead common sense, solved the problem!

Quite sturdy leg all in all !

After a busy work week travelling in Germany, finally some prime time / quality time at my bench, on a rainy Sunday morning.

As this is a slow build, have been still focusing on the cockpit.
Or under the cockpit where the platform for two MG's is located.



Have also been struggling to understand the instructions.. As this is a re-box of Dragons Me110, the drawings seems also to be direct copy-pastes, they don't really make sense in all sections. Dragons instructions, as we all know, are notorius of not always showing the reality...

One pretty crucial "detail" for example is the landing gear assembly. The instructions tell that the landing gear should be attached into the wheel bay, before the wheel bays is attached it into the wing section:



But if you do this, you will never ever be able to fit it into it's place, a no go. Which would be a catastrophe and would probably cause broken pieces etc.



As a matter of fact, the entire landing gear needs to be in an un-assembled mode, before attaching / building it directly into the place ( not in one "big" piece as Dragon Revell show )

I don't think Revell did any "quality checks" with the instructions, as there are a number of other awkward details in it..

But still, the kit is w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l !

I was thinking that this was a rebox of the ancient Revell Me-110 kit, not the more recent Dragon kit... no wonder the detail level had me so surprised and impressed....

Coming along very nicely Kari. The 1/48 Dragon Bf-110 have the same wierd instructions for the landing gear best thing to do with a Dragon kit is dry fit everything multiple times before cementing in place.
