I have finally started the Horten. I did some clean up and popped the canopy off. These PM kits are extremely basic. So what to do? Just put in a pilot!

The Horten was a testplatform for a pressure suit developed by Dräger. Here are some pics:

I thought it would be a nice addition to my 229. So I took a dive in the spares box, found a modern pilot and "of with his head"! And replaced it with a bare headed head scavenged from a running pedestrain from an AMT "gaint scorpion" diorama (seriously!).

The head is small but that is okay because I made plastic "dome" by heat smashing clear plastic over a shaped piece of sprue. I think the pics are self explanetory. Also note that I have several rejects beofre getting it right.

Final result looks like this. Next up paint!

Well most of the innards are done and I figure I have aft compartment and gun turret left to do before I go on to something else. I like the way it is shaping up so far.

You may have seen most of this before but this is pretty involved with a boat load of parts and many more to go.

the bomb bay stantions will be painted at a later time along with the bay door actuators. I will be slinging a torp under as well.
I may have to get me one of these. My pop trained as a wireless operator on the TBF.
Great work so far, even without any extra detailing it looks great. Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks! I am quite happy with how this is looking. And it is just an half hour work to make this "nazi spaceman from the dark side of the moon" pilot figure.

Paul, all those windows, the horror. Youll be having nightmares after all that masking.

Stik, great to have you on board.

The question is, how are you going to make it 1946?
How much of a modification is required? I thought maybe a night attack/torpedo bomber type of thing, mostly paint.
Well what comes to mind is that you can build it as an aircraft used for the invasion of Japan. Special color scheme, extra weapon choices, etc.

Keep in mind that my Shinden will be looking for an Avenger to intercept! Lol
