You're braver than me.

I'm painting my 262 with a pot of Humbrol enamel Silver and a brush - just like I did in the 80's!

Stuart, to me, that is more braverorer than what I'm doing.

With paint finishes that are shiny, it helps to lay the paint on "wet".

I’m still a neophyte when it comes to bare metal. I can’t offer any advice. I can say that I appreciate that you’re doing this and I’m looking forward to seeing the results. You’ve built a great subject and I’m itching to see the paint work.

Bare metal finishes are a huge challenge. Some folks like to replicate the shiny warbird look. Others like to replicate the well worn weathered look. And let’s not forget that many aircraft types that appear to be NMF are actually painted in aluminum lacquer, and not bare metal at all. That shiny silver on the real thing is actually shiny silver paint... just more stuff for us to ponder in the middle of the night when we should be sleeping...

Well, here is what you get.....my take on anodized aluminum. Tamiya Flat Aluminum, Model Master Semi-gloss clear coat, a few drops of Tamiya XF-1 flat black. As I thunk about it, it seemed that simply adding the aluminum color and any tinting to the clear would be somewhat simpler than spraying the color and then the clear. So, that is what I did. I did go buy some flat clear in a jar this morning and cannot find it. Wasn't in the bag from HL. My can of Testor's Flat was, though.







I think I'm happy with it. Only the bottom has been painted at this point.
