Great work on the turret Paul!

My progress has not been that spectacular. I finished the pilot in Dräger pressure suit. Not very accurate but close enough for 1/72 scale. I also added a small instrument panel and gun sight in the cockpit. With everything installed it is nice and busy.

I know its been a little bit since I have posted anything on this. I assembled the wings and the wing fold only to be disappointed again in the way things worked out. I was hoping for the outer wing panel to line up with the inner wing panel but alas no joy.

here is the way it looks going together. Image

well it looks as if I will be displaying this with wings stowed, I just hope that the Skyraider doesn't have this problem.

@ Paul: Looks like the TBM kit was designed to be displayed with the wings folded....

Here is a progress pic of my build, I scribed the lines of the moving parts. I also added a PE loop arial and drilled out the gun barrels. I am painting it now, grey with yellow wing tips:

I decided to build this with the wings extended. After I had the flaps and the other necessities glued on the outer panels just sort of lined up, sorta. With a little tweaking here and there I came away with something pretty dang close. not too much filler and the gaps in the wing halves are covered with a fairly large piece of pe.

My next concern is WHERE THE HELL AM I GOING TO PUT THIS BEASTIE? Well that's for later. any hoo, this thing measures about 22" port to starboard and I really think I will have to do some re enforcements inside the wing through the gear bays.

The cutting mat is 24" wide and you can see in this last pic how much room this thing takes up.

@Paul
Wow, she is a monster. Great work so far.

@Borg
Nice work, be careful you dont scribe too deep, remember, she was made of wood.
You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

True, but I am not scribing the panel lines (because it was made of wood) These are just the ailerons.

Looking good. I think I have a bottle or two of Mottled paint. Love the mechanical arm - Doesn't that create drag?
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..
