It's the people that make up this forum that provide a culture/ atmosphere of helpfulness and sharing while being encouraging and tactful that makes the difference. It's why I came to here in the first place several years ago.

Bruce this looks tremendous ! In the scale size you are tackling here you are literally packing 5 pounds of detail in a 3 pound bag with awesome success.... Keep at it !!

Thank you all so much. You fellas are aces. I think I figured out a way to scrape the bottom bucket and abrade the seat back closer to some hard use (I’m thinking since this bird in particular was shared by pilots that there would be more wear) although I am being mindful of what Carlos wrote (superb reference and research buddy) about many new airframes being sent in the air for Bodenplatte.
S’funny how things you read can throw you off track... case in point I was looking at Bf109 cockpit skins. One fella posted a rather nice cockpit interior from a styrene kit and the guys trolled all over the out of scale bulkhead thicknesses. This shows you how sensitive I am. I was thinking, “What is wrong with these fellas? Those bulkheads are gonna be hidden!”

Just respond back with the thickness of the skin on the fuselage and wings being out of scale.

You are a braver man, Kevin. I admire that advice. I have been thinking a lot about your energy, in particular, and would like to thank you for starting this Group Build, and being an inspiring force for all.

I think that just goes to show how truly stupid some people can be Bruce.
Apologies for not responding to your request for thoughts on how far to go with adding detail. I've been pondering it for a few days. Whilst I'd like to caution you somewhat on the limits of what can actually been seen in a 1/72 SEF, even with canopy open, I know you're man that enjoys the details of your work. So I would suggest keep going until it stops being fun!

I thought the same thing. I like when I see work like this because it makes my mind boggle. Bruce, you’re doing great so far!

Ken—Thanks so much! I was excited to see all three of your current slate of cockpits lined up - especially the way you crafted the control surfaces! Inspiring!

I have to give credit to Willie Messerschmitt for making aircraft that are fun to model!
Another line that works is that the real aircraft was not made from styrene. But what it comes down to is we are attempting to make the model look as real as WE a make them alog with our interpretation of how we think something looks. I like weathering on a model, some like a pristine look. Some like certain scheme, others like another. I mess up here and there and I do my best to cover mistakes. Everyone makes them, some little some small but the only person you should impress is really yourself. There are those I wish I was good at but the only way I improve is to push myself out of the comfort zone knowing there is a chance I will screw it up. Also why I have a lot of 109s since I see myself improving with each one. Just need to pick up another He 111 so I can start one of those!
