And some work on the guns. I have opened two but have to close the middle. This is going to be a late MiG-3 with two cannons instead of three machine guns.

Looking good!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Nice detail work in the cockpit. And you're braver than I am when it comes to opening up intakes/exhausts. :shoutout:

I had to use a bit of putty (Mr Surfacer 500) on the radiator. And made a canvas cover for the tail wheel. Late MiG-3's had the doors for the tail wheel.

Also a bit of putty on the headrest and to fill the centre machine gun. This late MiG was fitted with two cannons.

I am a bit neurotic about the MiG-3. I have build one, have 2 more in the stash and AM ockpit & decals for further builds.

Like a lot of aircraft the MiG-3 has all sorts change during the production run. These are very wel described at Massimo's MiG-3 website. And I really like to model these small variations, it makes the model more "personal" for me. I am not building "any" MiG-3 but a very specific one.
