VF-3! I first remember seeing that insignia watching Midway back in 1976... and immediately became a fan of the squadron... more badass than the Blacksheep since they were there in the beginning flying "disadvantaged" types. They were instrumental in stopping the Japanese tide and turn it at Corl Sea, Midway, and Guadalcanal.

The under water shot (Wildcat?) is pretty cool. Well preserved - and hoping the pilot got out. The raft storage compartment behind the canopy is empty.
Thanks,

That paint looks good and battered. Just like the Russians like it. :shoutout:

If you can't fix it with duct tape, you're not using enough duct tape.

Yes, the pilot got out. That is one of several aircraft wrecks that was located near the wreck of USS Lexington at the bottom of the Coral Sea. They went down with the ship when she was scuttled at the end of that battle. Several TBDs were also located from VT-2 in the same area.

Looks good. I like your tri-color paint job Stuart!

I started this Dragon Hawk missile launcher at our local AMPS meeting back in September

I finished most of the construction at the second meeting

And then after I wrapped up my Easy 8 last week I rolled over to finishing this up yesterday

now it’s all ready for painting
