Hi Gents,

Welcome to the SPAM Military Vehicle Group Build Thread!

This GB is open to any vehicle of any scale as long as it has a military connection, and isn’t a ‘what-if’. You’re welcome to chuck in part started kit if you wish, and multiple builds and off topic chat are acceptable (and generally encouraged!).

Start date: Now! (You mean you haven’t started yet?!) I appreciate a few of you have got current WIP, so feel free to start when you feel like it.

Close date: phuttt! Whenever – this is SPAM!

This GB is open to all – so feel free to join up, but please do chuck me a PM with your intention to join and if possible what you’re intending to build. I’ll keep a log on this OP and when people finish I’ll post up links to the finished build threads etc. so if anyone reads this in the future they can find everything.

So that’s it – I’ll shut up now and get building!

Cheers!

Stuart

Ok so here're my builds for this GB - My Tamiya 1/35 Panzer Kampfwagen II Ausf. F, which has only just been started (as you know) and my Tamiya 1/35 KubelWagen type 82. Both will be done in DAK markings.

These two models represent my ''toe dipping in the water'' of larger scale armor building.

I'm currently just fitting the top deck of the model to the base, but I've noticed another issue...

Lots of gaps and open detail :hmm: OK so the upper run of the tracks would probably cover it but it annoy's me so I'm going to box them in.

Cheers!

I hate to say this, but that is a fairly common issue with early Tamiya kits. But overcoming these challenges are what makes one a better modeler in the long run. And something like that is VERY EASY to fix.

Wow, I would like to see the archives someday, Kari. Having never built armor before and with all of the top notch modelers in the SPAM Armory, I decided to learn the painful joy or joyful pain of gluing a lot of parts together.

Yay, me bites the armor cookie!
I spent an hour today to drool over this kit and its instructions. What a detail, what a quality! These Ukranian guys do some amazing work!

After the Panther's finished I'll drop in with this gem. :FM:

I agree Carlos, the challenges just add to the build, and you're right, it is an easy fix - It's be lazy not to do it.

Well I've made some small progress today between cooking and gardening. I've added a bit of weight to the build. I've no idea if this is needed or not but I wanted to give the model a bit of weight.

And then after giving it a smidgen of primer I added the top of the body (hull?).
Here you see an example of German Army rubber band camo!!!

I'm having a lot of fun with this - Why the hell didn't I get into this year's ago :headslap:

Cheers!
