1968 photo

Image

formed in three parts from different metals (one sees the welds) and two are highly polished, and one is painted in a matte black but not perfectly... by comparison the 1/48 Dragon is a cartoon of this, with the individually formed sections standing too proud of the actual shape, your work is much, much better, smooth, but you must make that line demarcating the sections with a piece of brass wire!

Thanks Bruce, what a Great pic! I love this picture, not only showing very clearly how the nozzle looks like, but to that woman in the picture really shows the size of the nozzle... it's BIG !!

I also like how the photo is taken in the most revealing kind of warehouse/assembly room lighting and details the construction and its components.

I found a lot of potential Space stuff today on the Plastic & Steel IPMS Belgium convention.

But.. the price of most of the kits were pretty high, so I decided (aka was forced to ) kindly say no, but next time!

Below snapshot of two piles of Space stuff... That probably still are there tomorrow...

One sales person was willing to drop the price with 25% regarding Revells 1/48 kit of the same Columbia & Eagle kit... But he still asked for 60 Euros (~ 70 USD) which I still found a little bit expensive...

Well, I have my 1/96 kit here...

You have amazing self-control, Kari! I would be tempted to spend the money! On US eBay, a vintage Revell 1/48 Apollo kitset is $200. Although the Service Module is still Block I configuration I would be tempted.

Thanks Bruce, it came in waves while passing by those kits a number of times...
"Yes I will buy it"... "No I wont" back and forth...

But the rational me kept telling a number of "real-life" reasons why they should not come with me, soooo... :nono:

:-D

The last days some work has been ongoing with the project...

Started with the command and service module.

Old kit and old tools results in, as previously said and seen, in a lot of flash.

For example all windows are practically solid flash...
Image

The other parts of the command module, except astronaut Collins. Nothing of this will be seen (or hardly seen) when the command module will be closed/sealed. I will not spend too much time for detailing the internals.
Image

Wonder if there is an AM instrument panel / dashboard available.... :hmm: (JUST KIDDING!!)
Image

Service module done, 4 pieces, pretty good fit, but needs some work with the seam...
Image

Test fitting ongoing....

Let's see what next!
