Well, the DE is a post war class, so it would be very much a custom project. On the other hand, Revell makes a new tool 1/144 Fletcher class that you could really trick out as a masterpiece...

On a personal note I will say this - before I joined the Army, I built an Airfix 1/72 B-26 Invader for my dad, because he crewed on those. I have a new tool Monogram B-26 Invader that I wanted to build for him in his unit markings. He died two years ago and I still have not started that kit. Don’t wait too long.

Wise words.

My dad passed away Dec.17, 2017. I regret I didn’t build it for him while he was still alive. I can probably still do the Independence carrier.

Well, you can still build for yourself in his memory.

Agreed - that would be a great thing to do.

I still have a few to do in memory of my father... including that Monogram Invader

I feel the same when it comes to any British aircraft, which is a significant reason for researching a project with that subject, and Africa, specifically Tunisia is important to me because my grandfather showed me photos taken there. Ne Obliviscaris, Sans Peur!

I have two of these plus a batch of medals. My favorite piece of his memorabilia is the desert warfare handbook that he carried next to his bible. It was published for the K.A.R.

Apologies for diverting your wonderful thread, Carlos! Thank you for allowing these moments!

I KNOW THOSE GUYS! Crossed paths with them in Bosnia at Banja Luka... good guys and great memories. Cheers Mates! Where ever you are today...

No apologies necessary Bruce.
