GB Rules

Post by LyleW »

Cross overs will be allowed

Yes - Shark mouths do count

When I mentioned the colors on noses and tails, they have to be either or both. Think Tuskegee Red Tails or the Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney P-51 Mustangs.

As for twin engine fighters/bombers - P-38 Lightnings for example as long as they have color on cowlings/spinners/noses and/or tails. Even shark mouths qualifies. Even if they have checkered cowlings or tails - Invasion stripes alone don't qualify unless they have colored cowlings or tails. I have seen some bombers with striped tails.

Here's are a few examples:

Well, you get the idea..... There are quite a few out there.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Excellent, because I have those decals, resin cowl, engine and interior on their way for this little guy.

I was thinking of my Airfix B-17 but I need to hold off on that one.

I’m looking forward to seeing that one built up. Never knew there was biplane Helldiver.

That’s the fun thing of learning to read USN aircraft designators. First letter or pair of letters is the aircraft type, second or last letter is the manufacturer, a number is the type of that design from that manufacturer, and a number after a dash after all that is subsequent versions of that design. First Curtiss Helldiver, the biplane, SBC, Scout Bomber Curtiss. The new monoplane that came along later, SB2C Scout Bomber 2nd Design Curtiss.

I love the mid war aircraft. The SBC's were stationed on the Yorktown on Dec 7th and removed shortly after in lieu of the SBD So while the Navy never used them during the war. The Marines, French and British had them as well.

Bombing Squadron Eight (VB-8): 19 SBC-4s
Scouting Squadron Eight (VS-8): 20 SBC-4s

You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
