Thank goodness for those metal landing gear sets. I know that I have watched my kids damage a few of my builds over the years...

Yeah it was rather annoying - I'd only put on the table for a second whilst I moved some boxes - she walked past with a drippy woollen jumper - snag - splat
Like you said, it could be worse. I'm almost finished the Airfix F-16 and once that's done I'm just going to carry on with everything else on this build that doesn't involve the nose gear.

Well the SAC white metal gear has turned up, and now the Airfix Falcon is out of the way I can get back onto this - Mind you, I'm not sure about this replacement gear, maybe I'd better take it out of the box...
As an aside, I don't know for the life of me why people buy this SAC stuff, it's just a poor copy of what's already in the kit and the quality is bloody appalling
Cheers!

The primary advantage of the metal gear is that it is less fragile than the kit parts, so it takes weight better. It mimics the kit parts so that it is a drop in fit, as opposed to modifying the kit parts to accept the metal replacement.

Yeah, I can see that - I guess the 'plug n play' aspect would help and although it does seem pretty soft (every part in the box is bent as I said) it would take a tad more weight. It would be nice if they enhanced it a bit though with some brake lines etc.

There’s another company, I can’t remember the name at the moment, that makes landing gear from brass, and it’s very well detailed. I don’t know if it’s drop in or not.

um... Tried to get this build moving again and attached the new white metal nose leg, but it bent, and then snapped when I tried to straighten it, leaving the leg stub superglued in the nose well.
Man this kit REALLY doesn't want to get built - I think it's going to go back to the SOD, possibly the bin...

Hate to hear that you are so close
March as one, Don't look back
Odin's sons... Attack!
Unleash hell! Do not repent! Warfare grants us no lament
Let your weapons slash and tear This is no place for fear
Hold the lines! Move as one! In unity our victory's won
Our shields will form a mighty wall
United we shall never fall
