John, I did a Nitto 727 that way. Masking the windows was the best way I could keep perfect spacing and alignment. I cut the windows in a strip of masking material, pulled the strip off the masking material backing leaving all the windows in place on the backing, and put the strips in place on the fuselage. This way I could see that all the windows were aligned. Then I put each individual window mask in place which was not hard as they fit into the holes in the strip easily. Off with the strip and on with the paint.

I've been doing a lot of sanding and polishing - still have a ways to go. I started test fitting the belly pan which was something I was dreading as I'm not a fan of this type of engineering. I was quite pleased to see it's mostly workable as is requiring a bit of trimming/sanding on the aft portion.

Glad to see this again! Looking good.

Making progress fitting the belly pan but before buttoning her up I need to address mounting to the stand I got for her.
Image
Measured the posts and drilled holes in a block of wood and epoxied to the inside of the belly pan.
After drying, I drilled through the plastic

Test fit...

And finally mockup with the belly pan taped into position - I believe this will work!

I just need to make sure I secure that belly pan really well.
Thanks,
John

A Whale of an airplane! Maybe the wildlife should be Orcinus orca.

She's not the prettiest airliner, bordering on a guppy, but she has a beautiful wing that's faithfully represented in the kit.

I've slapped this kit together as a birthday gift many years ago. It was for a friend who worked as a painter at Airbus here in Hamburg.
The pluggable wings helped a lot with transporting that monster.
