1/32 Pfalz DVIII announced for 2022!

Post by speedgraflex »

I am delighted to announce Aviattic's next kit.

Image

The aggressive but sleek-looking Pfalz DVIII was, like the Siemens Schuckert DIII, designed as an "interceptor" - a concept repeated in the defence of the Fatherland in WW2. The huge Siemens Halske SHIII engine and massive four-bladed propeller intended to gain height quickly to wreak havoc on the swarms of allied bombers attacking targets in Germany through the Summer and Autumn of 1918. Like the SSW DIII it suffered engine problems caused by the inferior quality of lubricating oils but was in service with many different Jasta's and championed by ace Paul Baumer.

At the moment the kit is available as pre-order. Contact Aviattic!

Did you have a hand in this?
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

I am only involved as a builder. I did throw my hat in the ring, though. If Richard ever needs anything from me, he knows how to find me.

I encourage everyone here to check out Aviattic for decals as well as detailing parts. Richard the owner is a “one man band” in many respects, and an honorable person.

Indeed it is. There is just something so fiendishly wonderful about adding the correct detailing from the very start. The Rise of Wingnut Wings helped to break WWI aircraft modeling out from its niche market, and now there is a scrambling as kit makers try to fill the void.

That is pretty awesome. I'll leave it to better modelers to build it though. Besides, it's too big to fit in my collection!

A 1/32 WW1 biplane would still be on the small side, Mark. It would still be small next to a 1/48 scale Tamiya P-38 Lightning kit.

I’ve got a 1/32 Sopwith Camel Kit in my stash and I’d love to grab that one too!

That looks like a real beauty Bruce!

I'd be interested to see the details of the cowl, as it had a part in allowing the prop to rotate one way and the cylinders the opposite direction. Learned that when I built the Eduard SS D.IIIa.
