On Saturday April 30, Brookhurst Hobbies hosted their fourth Spruefest contest at their location. They had some 581 model entries on the tables. There were more models than that as a number of them were collections.

Here's some pics I took during the show. Granted, these are the ones that caught my attention the most.

General pics of the room. This is normally the game room where gamers come to play, and on Tuesday, they have the Sprue Cutters model builders club. Yes, it is a bit small, but they made it work.

We also had a number of importers/distributors showing some of the latest releases as well as what's coming. Here's some shots of those displays:

Now, here's some of the aircraft entered:

The 1/32 Lancaster:

A chrome plane; I think he plated it. It's too smooth to be paint:

Awesome artwork on this 1/32 scale Eagle"

Image

Navy COD. You don't see these built every day. I believe it's 1/48 scale:

Image

a 1/72 scale Tu-142 Bear:

Here's a shot of that same Bear next to other 1/72 scale aircraft to show size reference:

Image

1/32nd scale Swallow; the engines and nose cannons scratch built:

A close up of some of that detail:

Some helicopters:

Excellent WWI biplane:

A two-seat A-10 Warthog:

This one rocked! Love the umbrella:

Mark that looks like it was a great show. :hmm: I recognize a few of the faces in your photos. I sure do miss Brookhurst. You don’t realize how good some things are until you don’t have them anymore.
Looking forward to your next installment.

Adding to this, here is some of the armor that most caught my eye. I'll be posting a few, as I took about 175 pics at this show.

I'll start with the Braille Scale entries to get them out of the way..

These are the Braille Scale armor entered that were not mine:

First is this game set; I believe it is 1/100 scale:

1/72 scale armor:

This one placed first in category:

Now all the entries by the same guy who focuses on knocked out and/or abandoned vehicles. His ability to capture this look is uncanny:

This was found in one of the civilian vehicles categories:

Now for some well-done 1/35th scale armor:

Escorted by fully loaded Panther:

That's all the armor I have time to post. Next up: Automobiles!

We had a surprising number of rusted out and/or abandoned cars on the tables this year. Here's one:

That's about all the cars I have. I'll add more to this by showing some of the interesting miscellaneous models.

This first one was hilarious!

The detail he did to this little ship was amazing:

Here's some more:

I love the planking on this:

I want to do something like this someday for a photo base:

This is a 1/16 scale Panther modified into a Bergepanther. All interior detail is scratch built:

A close up of that interior:

Some Ships armaments...

Curious....

This is a 1/16th scale Sheridan, fully motorized:

Gotta love Batman!

Finally a couple of collections:

All the Pearl Harbor Battleships which were on Battleship Row:

All the M-48 variants built by one guy for the SoCal AMPS Nationals Group Build:

That's all these for now. Next up: Sci-fi!
