Re: Tamiya 1/48 F2A-2
Many thanks for all of your kind words!
Well, I can recommend this kit if you feel like one for yourself
Maybe mine wasn’t so hot due to it being a newer boxing and the molds are more worn… The detail is pretty soft… BTW, your Buffalo turned out mighty nice!
Yeah, although not quite as I was aiming for, but I don’t feel like repeating certain steps..
Yikes! You can find ‘em on eBay for far less!mustang1989 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 5:26 pm I saw one of these in an antique shop around 6 months ago. Lady wanted $70 for it.
Good progress on this Carlos. Paint work is phenomenal!!
Mark, there are no decals there aside from the stars and the aircraft number. The rest is all painted, and I did have some mask leaking/seepage in a few small spots due to contours around the gun breech covers and such.Duke Maddog wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 11:47 am Magnificent work Carlos! At first I thought you had a massive wrinkle in your wing decals, but then I looked closer in a second pic. This is so sensational, Looks like you're close to the finish line!

Stuart, this build is sure making me take another look at the Yellow Wings era carrier aircraft. I never really had an eye for them before, but now… very colorful birds!

I forgot to post that I already knew these things could be picked up for around $30 or so. Couldn't believe she was asking that much for it. I almost called her out on it too but......my wife stopped me. lol

Get yourself one!
Well today was working on the gloss clear coat prior to panel line wash, and on my flight deck base. I painted that up in pre war colors for now…
I also painted up and test fitted the wheels & prop… almost to the finish line!

To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..
