1/72 Revell Tiger I (GuP Kuromine)

Post by BorgR3mc0 »

This 1:72 Revell Tiger I was a present. I am nog much of an armour modeller but I do play World of Tanks a lot. In the game they have a tie in with Girls und Panzer, a Japanese anime about girls and tanks…basically all girl schools do tank battles (that is all I know, I have never seen of read GuP)
I am finishing this Tiger as the Tiger operated the Kuromine high school. I have this tank in my virtual garage and it is pretty good.
Now for the true “otaku”, this was a a Tiger I E whereas the series depict a H version (with Feifel airfilters and a different cupola). So it is going to be an approximation (I did remove all tools cm ,machine gun and spare tracks). Same goes for the decals, I found some decals that can pass but it is not going to be completely the same.
As it is a cartoon/comic tank I am going for a very high contrast and clean finish.
To achieve this I am using a colour modulation variant. Basically each panel gets its own lighting. In that way the should have a high contrast. Priming and lightning has been done. I am now going to a different layers of panzer yellow.

Looks good, but....

There is going to be no rust: I am aiming for clean and cartoonish.

I suspected that would be the case. It is coming along quite nicely.

Very cool! I've seen some of those anime with the girls and tanks.

I've seen the Girlz und Panzers show and i9t is hilarious! I do like it alot. I am constantly amazed at how carefully they animate the tanks; no shortcuts, these are always crisply and accurately drawn.

Nice start Remco! I'll be following this one closely

After the initial shading I have added the fist layer of yellow. A bit darker than panzer yellow. I am building up layers, next is going to be Panzer Yellow.

Starting to look like a proper Tiger tank now.
