I always wanted to do this scheme and by dumb luck I found an Eduard decal set. So there we go!! Gonna take it slow and steady. No reason to rush like I always used to.

I got a little paint work done on “Black 1” over the Memorial Day weekend. I figured for the horizontal stab that doing the yellow first would be a safe bet. And I don’t have the best history with spraying Tamiya yellow over black, last few times I did it, the paint ended up with the dreaded orange peel (or more appropriate- “lemon”?) texture. For these, I sprayed a thin coat of Hull Red, then a thin coat of RLM Grey, then a thin coat of Khaki, each coat in diffused marble patterns, and after I’d built up that base I then began to lay-down the yellow, in various shades, in more thin coats. I lightened it up on the fabric surfaces. After that I blended it all together. This takes a long time. But I’m happy with the results. Also, I got the light blue on the rudder, and did some mottling with Black Green, trying to emulate the reference illustrations, mostly because I was scared that I’d lost the ability to freehand mottle.

Yellow and white has always been a hard color to airbrush. Some say red is too. Building up in several light coats will achieve the results you’re for. Your yellow has come out fantastic. Bravo!

It's a fixed trim tab and you are not supposed to change it. Hands and feet off! :nono:

I usually undercoat yellow with flat white. Same for gloss white, I build up the white with flat whit, and just put a gloss coat on top. Much thinner paint layer that way. But you are more the artist than I am, Kenny.
