Tamiya 1/20 Lotus Type 79 1979

Post by Greg »

I've never posted stuff on two forums before, but since I'm new here thought maybe I'd share my summer project lest some of you think all I do is talk about building models. I do talk (post) more than I build, that part is true.

I am building subject kit in a GB hosted by our friend "Keavdog" John elsewhere. Here are some progress pics. I've been working on this since May, I am a painfully slow modeler.

Chassis and cockpit (complete less steering wheel)....

Image

Engine. Spark plug wires are OOB but still my first time adding wires or plumbing to an engine. The yellow ignition wire is my first added extra.

Image

My first attempt at adding some 'plumbing'. Compression fittings and braided line from Detail Masters. I think they are a tad out of scale and I probably should have used the next size or two smaller.

Image

The completed rear end. I was sure happy giving those braided lines somewhere to terminate.

Image

If I can figure out how to fit the exhaust, maybe I can get started on the body!

Thanks for looking in.

Wow, that looks great!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

I agree with Lyle! That looks really sharp Greg; those fittings and lines add so much "good" to that transaxle, and the tub and engine are coming along very nicely! :shoutout: That is inspirational work to me, keep 'em coming Greg.

Going to be so sharp when it all comes together. So much detail for the eyes to feast on.
Thanks,
John

Lyle, thanks for your encouragement!

Gary, thank you! I appreciate your comments.

John, thanks my friend. And I don't expect you to keep up with both of my threads!

What magnificent work! The realism is so intense here. Way to go Greg!
