It's an old kit obviously but looks accurate in many respects. The fuel and air connections from the drop tank to the fuselage are correct, based on recent research for my build.

Interesting build Stuart!

Watching those sprues I get flashbacks to 80's, when many model makers used precisely that metal gray coloured plastic in their sprues.
A little bit nostalgic !

This thread is giving me the itch to add another Monogram Jug to my display case. This is a fine kit -- a nice simple build. Now, which one should I pick?

Just kidding, I think anyway... I have lots of in-progress stuff I need to finish this year, and I never start a new kit unless I have less that twenty in-progress...

70’s too! I remember building the Monogram F-86 and Mig-15 in that silver plastic when those were first released at that time. One interesting trait of that color styrene is that even if you sand off the raised panel lines, if you smooth out the plastic with finer grits, there will be a “ghost” of the removed raised detail in the plastic.

Chris, if that’s you’re stash, you are one blessed man… :wow:

It's not bad at all John for it's age - I was quite impressed by some of the !ittle details that have been added like those fuel tank connectors.

Now that is a nice stash, you obviously weren't kidding when you said you had a few of this kit stored. I don't blame you for liking it though, it's a cracking kit.

Revell Germany has released many older Monogram kits over the years in their catalogs. Certainly many of their 1/48 kits have a Monogram lineage.
