Monogram Mafia

Post by LyleW »

la famiglia parte seconda

Okay, I’m game. I am familiar with this thread over there, but never got much into it. What are the particulars? A separate sub forum for all things Monogram? Do you earn entry by whacking a Tamiya kit? More info is desired.

Well, going back to the roots, it as build two original mold Monogram kits within a six month timespan. Both have to be new starts. Straight OOB, or as much aftermarket as the builder wants. Any scale or type will, do, but the kits had to be original Monogram, not one of the later merger or acquisition molds. Later it was expanded to include Revell as well. But then they got to mold swapping with Hasegawa and such, and diluted the bloodline. So if we go for a new start here, we go back to the roots- original Monogram molds, pre merger, so roughly 1986 and older. Newer boxings of original molds are ok. If there is a question about a kit’s pedigree, Scalemates will be the arbiter.

Yes, Godfather.

So, an ongoing GB?

Or, re-reading, do you submit completions to the Don Carlos. Mr. Cisneros, will you take the head of the family position?

A good excuse for me to find something on eBay.....

I have a few good ideas what I’m looking for.

Let’s get this organized as a proper timed GB. That’s part of getting made into the family. We get enough interest and pick a start date.

Sounds fun. I've got 3 in the stash that qualify, and I've been hovering over the hi-tech kingfisher kit for $30.00.... :hmm:
Thanks,
John

....and I bought the Kingfisher & Flightline Engineering set. So now I have 4 that qualify :bag:.
And of course I just read this from Lone Star:
Lone Star Models
November 23, 2022 ·

More information on the 1/48 OS2U detail set:
It will require a Monogram kit. From the Monogram kit you will use the decals if you want to but this new set I am releasing has a decal sheet too which includes two as used from the USS Texas , WHY NOT!? I live in Texas, Also you will need the kit canopy and outrigger floats with struts. The new set has a fully detailed fuselage nose to tail, separate flaps and ailerons with the gap along their respective hinge lines and a relocated landing light. Both Vought and Edo floats will be available as separate items that you choose when ordering. The first 20 or so will contain a True Details vacuformed canopy. Rudder and elevators are separate too.
Thanks,
John
