Monogram P-51B, from the original issue boxing. I'm adding an instrument panel from an Accurate Miniature kit and I'll have to do custom decals because all my original sets are alles kaput. I have also done some panel line removal on the wings and have rescribed much of the fuselage.

The one I built in 1965, somewhat worse for wear by flying too close to a light fixture.

John, was the P-51B retooled by Monogram at some point? I am working on the same kit with my son and it already has recessed lines and also the exhaust stacks are separate. Other than that though, it looks like the same plastic?

Yes, it was retooled by Monogram for reissue in their ProModeler line. Raised exterior panel lines were replaced with recessed. The cockpit had additional details added, and the main wheels were replaced with weighted tires. I believe that there was also a change with the exhaust stacks as well. Those are the changes that I can think of off of the top of my head. There may or may not be more… :hmm:

85-5931 is the ProModeler kit, Chris, which I have in the stash, along with 85-0136 which is a later kit than I am building but is the same plastic.

I am building the original issue, PA 136-100. That way I feel sure I will please the Don and avoid one of those offers...

So, trying not to sound thick, we all lump our WIP into this thread rather than start out own yes?

I created a sub forum.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Lyle, what's a sub forum?

In the other GB forum we did it this way Stuart, all the build threads in one thread, and it makes the group more cohesive, though it does make it a bit harder to follow an individual build. What does the Don think?

A forum for boats that go under water! Sorry.....

It is under the main monogram mafia link. Not a topic .
