Tamiya 1/35 Type 97 Chi-Ha

Post by Floki »

Next project I've been working on is Tamiya old 1/35 Type 97 Chi-Ha tank. For its age it's still a really nice looking kit. My only complaint is the rubber band tracks that I'm replacing with some 3d printed tracks I printed out on my Elegoo Saturn. Only other major update I did was modify the radio antenna that runs around the top of the turret. I cut out the plastic rod, drilled out the mounts and replaced with wire.

That's where I'm at on this build, should start painting this week sometime.

Thanks for looking in!

That’s a great old kit. Replacing the tracks and the turret antenna are two major improvement points. Sealing up the hull sponson overhang bottoms is pretty much the only other kit area needing upgrade.

Glad you reminded me, I figure some sheet styrene will make quick work of the gap. Also a few ejector marks under there to take care of too

Man this is looking good. Great call on the antenna - nice job there. Those little Japanese tanks always draw my attention. They had a medium tank late in the war called the Chi-To :giggles:
Thanks,
John

If you can't fix it with duct tape, you're not using enough duct tape.
