I started my life sentence working for the United States Postal Service. Happy Anniversary to me :lashed:

Never thought I'd end up as one of the "old" guys. There's kids I'm working with now that weren't born when I started :whiteflag:

Congrats to you TJ! You should be well over the peak and on the home stretch now! Just wait until you work with kids of co workers from when you were new on the job… :headslap:

I'm now in my 33rd year with my current employer. Whenever I train new folks, they always asked how long I've been working for BOCES. I simply ask him if he wants my honest sarcastic answer or a matter of factly normal answer.

My sarcastic answer always get a laugh from them..

I simply say with a straight face...." Too f***ing long"

My wife is in her 34th year with the community College she still works at.
We are both looking to retire in 2 years. We both had enough.

When I transferred from CT to FL I lost my "bidding seniority", basically my local seniority. But kept my retirement seniority. So in FL I'm coming up on 5 years. If I had been able to keep everything the way it was I would have been number 14 in all of Naples in seniority. The woman who is #1 has been carrying the mail since 1983.

As far as retirement goes, paperwork says 4 years, but what am I going to do at 57 and make the same pay I make. I figure, if I'm healthy enough I'll go til I'm 62. By then maybe the wife and I can downsize the house and enjoy life without a mortgage

Congratulations John!

Congrats! In total, I worked 35 years in IT. Loved the work. People and politics? Not so much.
