ICM Polikarpov I-5 late

Post by BorgR3mc0 »

Borg builds a Polikarpov, what else is new? This is actually going to be my second I-5. I already build the early version.

The late version has a more conventional cowling then the early one. But unfortunately mine was short shot. So I used plastic strip and putty to fill that. Rest was pretty basic, although a bit over engineered.

Remco, you always come up with unique subjects! Looking forward to what you do here with this one.

Can only agree with Carlos!

Had to Google this Po I-5 to get a picture of it.
Very curious to see what camo it will get

Well done!

That's a very interesting choice - great start, you did well sorting out that cowling!

Brilliant work Remco! Man, you have some mad skills fixing that cowl! I love watching your build threads since you always have such unique and interesting subjects. Which leads to the question: how did I beat you to the Be-4?!!

Small progress report: I airbrushed two coats, some grey primer and red. I now have to mask and then black primer and aluminium coat.

I have primed with Mr surfacer 1500 black and then painted aluminium wit Lifecolor, thinned with Future. It looks really bad halfway but usually comes out nice.

Next up is probably assembly. I still have a jig (is that the right word?) that I made for my earlier I-5 build. So that should help.
