A kit that needs no introduction?

Image

Anyway, looking through my stash today I had a sudden desire to build a 1/48 fighter, and a Tamiya kit at that, so asides from the FW-190 I picked up cheap from Amazon (I'll start a thread when it arrives) I found that this beast was calling to me - it has been for a few days. I read an interesting blog post about not keeping kits until your skill improves, not being scared to start them and all that - which was the case for me with this one (and the F-14). Basically I've seen so many awesome builds of this on line, I was worrying that I'd never do it justice.

I'm thinking I might well go for the 'Miss Virginia' option. Although I do have some AM decals....

So I did start this kit a few years ago, but because of my previously mentioned mental block, it stalled quite quickly. I got as far as adding a coat of interior green.

Tonight I spent a happy hour or so giving all this a second coat, and then blocking in all the boxes etc. in black - pics to follow.

Cheers!

Looks fun Stuart! An amazing kit from what I've heard. I want to build one, but I have yet to find someone to trade with me for a Monogram P-38 :lashed:
In the mean while, I'll have to keep stalking ebay for my 2nd P-38 choice, the mpc/airfix P-38F with markings for Japanese Sand Man II.

No introductions needed but you can’t go wrong with a Tamiya P-38 Lightning.

That's what I thought too John - I'll have a think when I get that far.

That's quite an old kit now, I don't think I've ever seen an Airfix P-38 built up.

That's what I've heard Tom.

Looks great, Stuart! Mine is stalled with…yep, canopy masking issues. Oh well.

Mostly, ME....I cannot get a good scan to then cut the masks from the item they nclude. I had one, but i cannot locate it. The kit goes together very easily. IF you follow directions and don't guess as to what is next. ask me how i know.
