Woohoooooo!!! I finally finished a build - the first for this year. Very poor if you consider by this time over the past few years I'd finished about 4!
Anyway, this is Zvezda's little 1/72 Hawker Hurricane mk.IIc, converted to a (trop) by me adding a Vokes filter from spares and SAAF number 1 sqn markings circa 1942 from Xtradecals 'Fighters over Africa and the Med' sheet.
Paints are brushed with Humbrol acrylics. This is the first time I've used solely Humbrol paints on a build for several years, the new generation improvements has improved things, although they still aren't as good as Hataka. They're still far too thick and those stupid dropper bottles make the situation worse - bring back the screw top pots Humbrol!
I'm pleased to have got one off the bench!
Cheers!

Nice job Stuart! I do love a Hurricane. How did you like the Zvezda kit? I've got two of their kits in the stash but have yet to build one.
Thanks,
John

Hot damn! That is a beauty!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Nicely done Stuart! Yeah, Humbrol acrylics do needs some adjusting to get best results… But you obviously have them dialed in.

Well done, Stuart! I never noticed til Duke mentioned the “oops” on the tail.

Thanks John!
It's not a bad kit - it was let down a little by the U/C - seems a bit simplistic, but then this was a snap-tite kit. I'd build another though.
Thanks Lyle!
Thanks Mark - I like it too, I'm going to have to look into what it was about.Duke Maddog wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 4:31 pm That is Awesome Stuart! I love the "oops!" on the tail!
Thanks Carlos. They worked well enough, just very thick if anything.Stikpusher wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 4:46 pm Nicely done Stuart! Yeah, Humbrol acrylics do needs some adjusting to get best results… But you obviously have them dialed in.

Thanks TJ - I hope to do a few more desert schemes this year.
Thanks Tom! As I said to mark, I'd like to find out what that was all about.BlackSheep214 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 8:01 pm Well done, Stuart! I never noticed til Duke mentioned the “oops” on the tail.
