Airfix 1/72 bf109G-6

Post by Stuart »

As some of you may have seen on MSC, for some reason I pulled this little bf109 kit out of the stash and started working on it...

Image

I HATE those markings - new decals on the way.

I had intended to start this after my Spitfire was finished, but whilst running a bath for my son the other day I spent ten minutes idly painting up the highly detailed cockpit...

Image

And this is where I am after less than two hours - ready for priming. :hmm: I have a feeling that I might have fitted the wrong canopy, but I'll see when I get my decals. It's only on with Glue-n-Glaze anyway so it should be easy to remove.

Image

What always surprises me about the bf109 is how small the aircraft it, much more slender than either the Spitfire or Hurricane..

Cheers!

Looking good Stuart!

Yes, the 109 is really small compared to many other WW2 fighters

That does seem to be the case - it's more the size of a Mig-3 or other such Russian aircraft :hmm:

Just waiting on my decal sheet Mike, so I can choose a scheme. It's not due to arrive until next Wednesday alas

What? You don’t like the googly eyes scheme? :giggles:

Yeah that is quite cool, either that or the Yellow 12.

The only annoying thing is I've fitted the wrong canopy (I've fitted the later one with less framework) so I'll have to change it over - Thankfully I attached it with white glue.

Either of those.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..
