1/48 F-16 Prototype

Post by Stikpusher »

Since my current project has reached the point of painting & finishing, I have started this kit as a “quick build” project to work on while in between the steps of the other one. I have had this kit in my stash for many years and been eyeballing it for quite a few.

Yesterday I had my first bench session and things went along rapidly. I got the wings assembled, some fuselage parts, and the main portion of the drop tanks. I still need to paint up the cockpit before I can get the fuselage halves glued together.

So far this kit is typical Tamiya great fit and easy assembly. I will also add that these older kits with low parts count do have a refreshing allure to them due to their simplicity….

More updates in a few days…

Looks quite loverly! Neat project.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Nice! I do like me a good Viper.

If you can't fix it with duct tape, you're not using enough duct tape.

I’ve ebbs wanting to do that Viper kit along with the commemorative Viper that’s out. Kinetic has it as the Demo Team scheme.

Already looking great! Keep it coming.

I also agree that some of these simpler models can be a joy to build due to their simplicity.

Oh cool! That's the old school tooling of the Tamiya Viper.

Looks like a fun project Carlos. That scheme is killer. Built the Monogram kit myself a few years ago. Have the Caracal markings now is 1/72. Can't wait to slap them on a Tamiya kit. They should be a tad bit better than the 40 year old Monogram sheet :giggles:
