With the recent sad news of one of our own SPAM member’s passing, a thought came to mind; an idea actually for a John Eaton Memorial Group Build. Any interest, input, ideas on when, duration and subject for this GB?

I like the concept. He was very much an aircraft guy and the majority of his builds were historical, and rather clean I might add.

Tom,
Happy New Year and thanks for posting this idea. I know it's customary, so I think it would be a great idea to do something. I think that it might also be helpful for the forum to have everyone making more models here. I believe John would have wanted the forum members—everyone here—to build a kit in his honor. From a practical standpoint, we would need participation, though. That's what stopped me from posting about this. It sounds like you may have ideas. What are they?
Carlos,
You posted before I finished typing! Okay, so that's the theme. What next?

An historic aircraft build in a clean style does seem to be the ticket for this.

Yup... saw that yesterday. If you go back to his main page, he does still have a large stash available. I was looking there and perhaps choose one on his list and build it. Not buy it from his family but buy one elsewhere.
I am curious what they will do with his massive stash. Hopefully donate to a local IPMS Chapter (perhaps in an auction of sorts of their IPMS chapter?) or a LHS to buy them off their hands.

For the sake of honoring John, I would absolutely join. I cannot promise I will finish however (based on history)

Looking through his stash I'm sure there's overlap with everyone's stash here so building something from his stash isn't a bad idea.

Can't take credit - that was Tom's idea.

Tom’s ideas are great! Let’s choose a subject from his inventory and build it. I see he purchased a 1/48 Eduard Sopwith Camel which is a kit I own, so this was pretty easy even for me with very few kits available.
