Has anyone ever bought anything on Temu. I have the app and they have everything under the sun - including model related stuff like model, kits, tools, etc…

Thoughts?

I understand that everything there is sold for a loss as it's mostly a Chinese data-harvesting site. 😐 Caveat emptor.

Mostly junk or cheap knockoffs from what I’ve seen, and, yes tied to China.

Haven't ordered anything but I am skeptical about the legitimacy of Temu. I'm not too surprised they're cheap knockoff from China.

I have heard of folks buying from them, but never bought anything from the site myself. Probably no worse or better than some sellers on eBay.

From our helpful AI friends:

Is Temu a trustworthy site?

AI Overview

Temu is a legitimate shopping site for low-priced goods but carries significant concerns, with mixed reviews on safety, data privacy, product quality, and potential forced labor in its supply chain, making it a risky platform where users need caution regarding what they buy and their personal data. While it's a real marketplace for trendy items, its association with third-party sellers leads to inconsistent quality and potential scams, with product recalls for safety issues and questions raised about its data collection practices.
Reasons for Caution:
Data Privacy: Temu collects substantial user data, sharing it with affiliates, which raises privacy concerns despite claims it's standard e-commerce practice.
Product Safety & Quality: There have been recalls for children's products (pajamas, helmets) and warnings about dangerous counterfeits (car seats) due to substandard materials, with many items bypassing strict U.S. safety inspections.
Supply Chain Ethics: A U.S. House committee report raised concerns about potential forced labor in Temu's supply chain, linking it to broader issues in fast fashion.
Third-Party Sellers: Inconsistent quality and outright scams are possible as the platform relies heavily on third-party sellers.

Verdict:
Temu is a gamble; it can be great for cheap novelty items but risky for essential goods or sensitive data. If you use Temu, be aware of inconsistent quality, potential safety hazards in some products, and the extensive data collection, treating it more like a "use with caution" platform rather than a fully trusted retailer.

From what I've heard a lot of the figures etc. that you can get from the site are knock-offs of other peoples work. That being said, I hear the fruil metal track knock-offs are actually better the Fruils - requiring not a lot of work.

You takes your chances as the old saying goes.
