Well, they got me again. So. Cal. AMPS is doing another online GB contest. This time the theme is vehicles, wheeled or tracked, that have some form of rocket or missile weaponry, either as a primary or secondary weapon. I selected this Dragon M270 MLRS kit that I’ve had for ages in my stash, figuring this would be a good reason as any to finally build it
Over the past few days I’ve built the suspension and started on the front plate of the cab
This will be a secondary project until I wrap up a couple more, so updates will be intermittent for the near term…

Hey Carlos,
Thanks for posting this SoCal Amps build here. I was able to look up and learn more about this subject. I don’t really know anything about modern armor. There’s quite a lot of history here to the base Bradley designs which led to this modified version.
I know it’s important to step outside of your own square of interest and look at something like this. You didn’t mention the subject’s country but I do see from the builder locations that Germany is one of the major contractors.
Tell us more.

Thanks Bruce. I’m not overly familiar with the type, just more of seeing them here and there back in the 80’s on post when they replaced our M110 SPGs, and form their performance in Desert Storm and OIF1. I will be making this in US colors, since I’ve never been able to get ahold of the kit with US markings and the rocket pallets. At least not for a reasonable price.
I do know that these serve across NATO with various countries as well as Japan. It has proven to be one devastating weapons system in combat. I do believe that some have been given/sent to Ukraine, along with its’ wheeled cousin, the HIMARS.

Very cool! I remember seeing them when I was a kid. I haven't seen many kits of it out there.

Now that's not a subject you see everyday, nice choice Carlos!
I do like the MLRS,such a great looking subject. I've been meaning to get on of these myself to build a UK version.

This is gonna rock to follow. I'm glad you are able to build one of these; they still have not released one of these in 1/72 scale at all. I would need about five, as I'd build one each for the US, Germany, Britain, Italy, France and Japan.
Bring it on Carlos! I might have to look in my stash to see if there's some I can do for that Group Build. As I recall, I still have a couple Sa-6 Gainfuls to build....
