Thank you guys!

First because the fit allows it. Then it faciliates handling and application of the swastikas. But for no real important reason.

Had a day off and decided to force this on and off-project closer to the end.

The canopy masking sat there for a few months, so I was a bit nervous when I peeled it off. But all went well as you see

I want to place the model on a base that depicts one of those wooden layups along the Autobahn, where some of the Me 262 were waiting for operations during the last weeks of WW2. The two acrylic sheets are sandwitched via two screws. The upper one has the same outer dimensions like the cover to guarantee a snuggle fit. I cut a random outline in the protective foil and peeled off the inner part. Sanded the now uncovered area with low grit paper to provide a better grip between the acrylic paste and the sheet.
In the still wet paste I pressed some of those you all know where to get them-stirring staffs

Let that arrangement dry for a few hours and shot some Vallejo Air brown tones on top

Next step is covering the area around the slats with mossy wood ground. Found a package of Forest-in-a-Pot from Fredericus Rex in my storage. The grain looks more suitable for 1/35 and bigger, so I went for some kitchen work

more to come :bye:

Great work! Interesting to follow the build of the base Mostrich!

Looking at this picture, if shown totally out of the context, would make me at least to believe it some sort of tasty seasoning you soon put on your dish etc...
Can almost smell the spices in it!

Is this a "SORA" base, Torben?

Very clever idea doing a base! So cool! Your 262 will look ace on this one!

That is going to be a very nice looking base, as is the 262. I love the Squiggle work!

Thank you, Paul. Mother nature still is our best supplier!

Looks like rappee, but I could resist snorting it.

Yes, it is. A bit pricey, but when you're a slow builder like me you don't need more than two per year... :bored:

Thank you, Portman. I hope it turns out as planned.

Only pitot tube and antennae to add, then she'll be done. The ring antenna looked a bit chunky to me, so I replaced it with some aluminium wire

Here's a little sneak preview for the impatient among us

Will take some serious pictures when real life lets me. :FM:

What a result! The camouflage is a very challenger part of this nice build. Torben, will the top of the case fit over the wing(span)? Looks rather tight on the last pic.

Done!!!

After 15 months she finally found her place on the shelf. By far not the kits fault, engineering is great. It was more the lack of motivation of the builder that let this project crawl to its end.

Close fit, but fits! On the tailplane it's less than a mm...

Thank you all for following and being patient. Eager to read yor comments.
