You have to love it. We used to call it "Ente" (duck) here in Germany.

Well observed, Carlos. The duck is a synonym for poor performance on the ground. But there are of course two other habitats where it can show off. That's like 2:1 for the real duck.

Yes, there is the political term where a official has lost an election and their term still has time remaining in office before the successor takes over. The official is then referred to as a “lame duck”for the remainder of their term.
