how did you make the base? Is that a map mod podge'd to the wood?

Thanks CallSignOWL. The map: I downloaded a pic from Google, photoshoped it to my liking with military symbols and stuff, got a quality printout from a print shop and glued it to the base with white glue.

Cool! Ive got a bunch of old aviation maps that I could try this with. 
Every take-off has a landing...some are just better than others
