I cleaned and reorganized my work area today so it's time for some pictures. The table is a plywood bench with a layer of Celotex, and then plate glass over that. Easy to clean up paint or glue messes with a single edge razor blade and Windex or lacquer thinner. I put paper towels down in the area I work (usually the normal 2 square feet! ). The area to the right of the second photo is where I build R/C models. The photo backdrop comes down easily when I don't need it but I try to not do both types of construction at the same time due to dust. The filter on the wall is covering a large exhaust fan, and when I paint I run that and the A/C in the window in fan mode which gives a good cross flow. All the lights in the workshop are 5000 Kelvin except the one above the bench, I turn it off when I'm taking photos.

Use IMG tags. Shop looks great.
Nice - pics are showing up. What kind of RC stuff do you build?

Yes, I am curious about your R/C work as well as the beautiful painting of the P-38! What a great set up, John. Thank you for sharing with us!!!

Very nice!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

I have flown all different types of R/C, but gliders and old timers are my current emphasis. I have been designing models and selling plans for a long time, and also laser cut short kits. Here's the page on my website for that.

Very nice! Is that articulated light at the end of your bench an LED one? I've been thinking of getting one from Amazon.

No, it's older than that, it's a 5000K flourescent from Harbor Freight, I think. LEDS are getting a lot more reasonable in cost now, glad to see that. I like them in display cases because they don't get too warm. The tubular light above the workbench is a hot one, good for spot heat in the winter with halogen bulbs!
Re: Cleaned up and reorganized work bench
Wow - nice stuff John. I've done ARF kits - OS 46 mostly. Then I got into a few electrics and oddly enough, after wanting to go fast, I found so much pleasure flying electric foamies. No where near scale but man they can fly slow and do fun acrobatic things. I also have a few electric helicopters and they are nerve racking to fly, but super fun.jeaton01 wrote:I have flown all different types of R/C, but gliders and old timers are my current emphasis. You have a very nice work space
March as one, Don't look back
Odin's sons... Attack!
Unleash hell! Do not repent! Warfare grants us no lament
Let your weapons slash and tear This is no place for fear
Hold the lines! Move as one! In unity our victory's won
Our shields will form a mighty wall
United we shall never fall
Odin's sons... Attack!
Unleash hell! Do not repent! Warfare grants us no lament
Let your weapons slash and tear This is no place for fear
Hold the lines! Move as one! In unity our victory's won
Our shields will form a mighty wall
United we shall never fall
