That’s a really nice old kit John.

I’m gonna be in with this one…

Nice. My LHS has 10 or 15 old ARII/OTAKI Kits they acquired from an estate sale or some such thing.

Chris, they are good kits, with their later ones being quite nice and the earliest ones such as this and the Zero being pretty decent. I've built a few over the years. Their biggest shortfalls are on areas like the wheel wells, cockpit, and engines on their early radial types. But if you want a quick easy build with recessed detail, these are good ones to pick up for their usual price... oh and look for new decals too... the kit decals were never that good.

Yes, I recall building one or two as a wee lad. The 109G was amazing for the day. Might have built the Tony or Ki84 as well. Can't recall now. But I do remember the decals not being great.

You can find the older Tamiya kits (very nice BTW) like the Raiden, Rufe, Frank for under $20.00 -
Thanks,

I've heard and seen pics of that hobby store. Sending me in there would be a very bad idea. Trust me!

Tamiya 1/48 A6M3 Type 22

Adding two more as of 2/23/24, might as well be a personal GB within a Forum GB!
