Falklands War book

Post by keavdog »

Saw this on the modeling news and it looks pretty interesting. History, profiles and model builds. I pre-ordered it.

The history & profiles are cool, but I’m a bit reluctant to pay for a book price to look at photos of somebody else’s builds.

You can look at mine for free, Carlos! The Victor that stretched the range for the Black Buck mission to the limit, XL189.

Nice build John. That war happened when I was a Senior in HS and I don't recall too much about how it all went down. I have the 30000 ft understanding so hoping the book has a good bit of history. Plus, two of the 1/48 models they have (Pucara and the Sea Harrier) are in the stash so I hope the do build articles. And it was $12 (shipping of course pushed it up to $20).
Thanks,
John

Martin Bishop (Bish) ran a Falklands GB on FSM not long ago and I built the Victor for it. Lots of interesting info in that thread.

Hard not to think how much simpler that bombing campaign would have been had the Brit's had the time to lease a few B-52's from our boneyard.

The famous Victor… how I always wanted to build that bird. It’s been on my wish list for a few years along with the Nimrod and Vulcan.

The Airfix newer kit is much better than the Revell Germany kit.
