Monogram 1:48 F-14A (IW)
Re: Monogram 1:48 F-14A (IW)
Well I almost have the cockpit painting wrapped up. Just finishing up the Martin-Bakers. I have to say these Tamiya HG II paintbrushes I bought on a whim a few days ago are outstanding. I used them to pain the details on the bang seats and it was so enjoyable. The stripes on the face curtain handles look like they could almost pass for masked and airbrushed. The fine point on these brushes has stayed intact and there are no flyaway bristles to ruin your paint job. Will see how they hold up on the long run but I am very impressed so far. I'll post a picture as soon as the pit in complete, but for now, how about a bad panorama of my super messy bench top?

Re: Monogram 1:48 F-14A (IW)
I added some a HUD projector and other details to the rather naked under windscreen area of the Monogram kit. The two arms on either side are not a HUD frame as the 'A' did not have a HUD in that sense, as the data is projected right onto the flat center windscreen panel. They are supposed to be brackets that hold various warning lights. I could not hardly find a single detailed photo of this area and did not realize till later that these lights attach to the windscreen frame--Oh well...

I also finally finished the cockpit. I repainted the pilots IP several times. seems the detail is not as well executed as on the RIO's IP and my I was frustrated trying to get a consistent look compared to the back seat office. It is what it is at this point.
I had to pin the RIO Ejection Seat in place using a brass rod and it was determined to lean to the right side and not sit upright. Now that I think of this, this is an issue with every build of this kit.

Incredible details on the cockpit. Can I sit in it?

To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Sure but remember not to step on the seat cushions when you climb in
