Paintwork so far outstanding !Stuart wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 11:55 am So putting the Chieftain asides for a while, I've been concentrating on getting the basic colours down on the M48A3.
The OD is on, and I've started to drybrush the upper hull with a light green just to break it up a bit - all prior to decals and weathering. I've also painted the wheels and tracks and base colours and need to work on them also.
Detail painting next.
Cheers!

Re: A couple of Cold War Warriors.
Thanks Gents - much appreciated!
You know, I'm really regretting closing the commander's hatch - I think it would have looked a lot better open with the figure. Might just have to live with it - I have, however, just bought some C ration boxes for the stowage.
Bum.... I thought as much. Not a big deal to remove the barrel and drill out the mount though. Thanks Carlos.Stikpusher wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 1:12 pmCorrect. If the .50 is mounted externally, it is removed from the cupola interior.

You ca n try applying Tamiya Extra Thon, and try to pop it loose, or the Tamiya Airbrush Cleaner should work, too.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

That's a great tip, Lyle!

Yeah I bet! We've all been there before.
A great tip Lyle, I'll try that. I think it would be good to have a figure in the hatch - especially as I might, just might, put it on a base.

And work progresses on the Tamiya M48. I''ve just sprayed a gloss coat ready for decals. Tracks are in paint and I'm just painting the tyres on the roadwheels. I've had a looksee at opening the hatch, but then decided not to bother.

Looks really good Stuart!
Interesting to follow, in what order the kit is made. I almost paint the roadwheels etc first, before hitting the rest. Only reason being, to get rid of the most boring part (in my opinion)

Hi All,
WOW! I'm a bit behind with the old updates on this one - well decals are on, wheels and tracks painted etc. I'm just in the process of cleaning of the Flory's 'Grime' wash I put on it and then I'll hit it with some
Vietnam mud
, because as we all know - all the mud in Vietnam is red.
