Kinetic Sand

I found in the local Aldi shop this so called "Kinetic sand" and decided to buy a bucket to see what it actually is:



It has a strange consistency, it's not sticky, it's soft, it's sort of like sand, but still not...





Have anyone any experience of this stuff, thinking in building dioramas etc. Of course, the stuff as such wont work, would need to mix with something to harden it, like white glue for example.

But would be interesting to know, if anyone has any experience of this stuff

I’ve heard of it. An alternative, to Play Doh, sort of. Kids can lay with it on table tops, etc without making a big mess.

Yup... I've heard of it as well. Like Lyle said... very similar to Play Doh. Nothing new since I've seen it at Hobby Lobby and other stores in the past.

Its easily made at home too.
The most basic version is fine grain sand with some baby oil in it. Adding some corn starch will help it with is moldability and create a finer texture.
Its neat stuff, and can be used to create sand casts of small objects for molding in plastic or silicone.
