Re: Revell 1/32 P-51D
I well understand that an hornery kit can sap all the passion out of a build, but you're right that once it's finally done, there'll be no hard feelings.
I've had models that just made me want to finish up just to not have to fight it anymore. But with your experience and skillset, it has met its match!
Re: Revell 1/32 P-51D
Oh, I keep grudges against kits/manufacturers. I will never, ever do another Eduard kit. Too much "see what I can do just because I can" crap". I appreciate those that build up Eduard kits. They usually look great....

Lyle....I know exactly what you mean. I'm experiencing the crazy engineering on the Eduard P-51 Mustang kit.
Sounds like what I had experienced with the Revell 1/32 Berlin Express Mustang kit I did several years ago. It does fight with you, but at the end of the day it comes out as best as you can build it.
It was one of those kits you can't wait to get it done and over with. You're doing good thus far, John.

Looks good John! I have been travelling on vacation the last two weeks, so can continue my P-51D project soon

Re: Revell 1/32 P-51D
Just a couple more decals, fiddly bits, and dull coat to go. Had to do a little remedial work on the gun port inserts. In order to preserve the complicated panel line in those areas I made masks so the filler would not obscure them.

That's looking really rather excellent John - love the choice of scheme.

Re: Revell 1/32 P-51D
Thanks for all the nice comments, as undeserved as they are
The decals went on well, though I could have worked harder on silvering on some of the smaller stencils. I can't remember when I was so glad to get a model off the bench, though it might have been that MPM 1/48 P-63A.....
A few bits are not there, but enough is enough. I applied the dark green thinly and unevenly, trying to get a realistic tone variation, it also seems to enhance the panel lines, I am happy with that. It has juat been washed, that's why there is no exhaust staining!
