Agreed, I've built a few Eduard kits and whilst nice, have always found them a bit over engineered. Why use 1 piece when you can use ten!

For a few years ago, back in 2022 I was doing a duo-bild, Airfix Mustang and Eduards Mustang more or a less at the same time.

Airfix Mustang was finished but Eduards Mustang... well, it's still here, in the box

And here I thought that the Eduard Mustang kits were supposed to be the cat’s meow… :hmm:

Emperor's new cloths syndrome I think Carlos. They're good kits, but blooming fiddly.

Ok...sadly I'm calling this one toast. Sanded as much as I could but the gaps remained. Plus, I've lost a bit of panel details in the wheel wells. Putting this dual build away for now until I find a decent P-51 Mustang - either Tamiya or Hasegawa kit. Maybe I should have gotten the Weekend Edition instead. Oh well... no use crying over spilt milk.

The plus side is I plan on saving the good bits to use on the other Mustang kit whichever I end up getting.

Okay, Tom. I’m sorry you had this issue. It’s sad to see your work get binned but I’m glad you’ve pulled the cockpit out to recycle it in the Tamiya kit.

I’ll try to salvage and repurpose whatever is useful from Eduard kit to the Tamiya kit. Propeller, struts, wheels, wing tanks, etc… anything can act as a replacement part should something get lost, misplaced, or looks like a better substitution due to enhance the details.

My Eduard experience is limited to WWI subjects, however the Eduard heritage comes from short run subjects with decent fit (Nieuport Bebe I’m currently building) and the newer CAD designs which emphasize fine detailing over decent fit (Sopwith Camel). As Montgomery Scott famously observed of Transwarp Drive: “The more parts they add, the easier it is to screw up the plumbing.”
