Procrastination in modelling...

My first love was building model cars going back to the early 70s. I stilll love building them - especially muscle cars but... I haven't done a single car model kit going on 3 or 4 years now. Don't know why. There's no accuracy issues building cars as opposed to building aircraft or armor kits. The lack of building car models has been a huge mojo issue as of late. I vowed myself to build / finish what I have put off. And do more since I've acquired quite a few vintage kits from Handiable a few years ago.

The reasoning why I haven't done a model car kit for sp long is because I tend to stray into the world of aviation kits. Aircrafts became my second love building them.

It all depends on my mood what I want to build. With the Viper kit I'm doing now, most definitely I'll jump on the P-51 Mustang next. After that, by late May or the beginning of June, I'll jump on car kits - finish off what I had started then maybe a couple more in the summer.

It's a hobby, not a deadline to "git'er done". Enjoy it.

No Stuart, you are not alone in this. The modeling mojo for me flows in and out like the tides. I’ll have the motivation to go hot and heavy for days or weeks, depending upon the project(s) that I’m working on. Then at their completion or when the projects get too tiresome, the motivation recedes and I’ll step away for awhile, or change gears completely. Right now I have a couple of build projects going, but this 3D printing has really captured my attention for the time being. And that will morph into some painting soon. Which will allow me to circle back and work on painting for other stalled projects. Who knows where it will lead…

It's a tough act to follow in the wake of what's already been written. I'm always amazed and grateful that the extended group here so clearly understands what it's like to fall in and out of momentum, but as someone who rarely finishes any model, I'm not going to stop from answering you.

You're describing lack of interest and I think you've already answered why you feel slightly adrift. This is akin for all creatives as a form of postpartum depression. You made an incredible push with armor, aircraft and figure kits, completed what you started and you're now waiting to find that spark. As Cormac would say, "You're looking for the fire."

That's the mytho-poetic way I would describe your state. Could be I'm wrong. Could be that you're just puttering around in the shed and looking at the things on the shelf. Either way, it's something you don't need to kick into motion. This isn't mojo. You have the mojo already.
