Kinetic F-16 AM Block 20

Post by BlackSheep214 »

Started assembly on cockpit last night. Building this one Belgian Viper. Have two more of same exact kit in my stash. They're also going to be Belgian Vipers.

The kit

Cool - love a viper. Are you doing the tiger meet box art version?
Thanks,
John

Great subject Tom! Curious to follow this build!

My own Kinetic F-16 build stalled some years ago (back in May 2023 to be precise), so I hope your build will help me bringing back the F-16 on my bench!

No.. I bought 3 different Belgian Commemorative aftermarket decals about 5 years ago. Two are D-Day Commemorative schemes.

This one will be 75 years 350th Sqn in Belgian AF, 2016

The other two will be 75 yrs D-Day 1944 - 2019 350th Sqn, Belgian AF and 75 yrs D-Day 1944 - 2019 349th Sqn, Belgian AF.

Exactly… why three Belgies? Of the NATO F-16s, the Norwegians and Greeks vary from the standard camo. And the Dutch have a Mig killer among their fleet. One I can understand. Two even with a line bird and a commemorative scheme… but all three? :Beaver:

Now multiple USAF Vipers with their combat histories… :lashed:

The Belgian Air Force has a long-standing tradition of painting custom, highly colorful "special tails" on its General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcons to celebrate squadron anniversaries, milestones, and participation in events like the NATO Tiger Meet.

The one Tom has chosen as first out, is this I cool one

Image

Some background to this specific camo:
The aircraft bears the code MN*B of Spitfire MH434 in 1944, with RAF markings on the left side and Belgian markings on the right. This is explained by the 75th anniversary of the Belgian Air Force this year.
The human aspect is also very important to us, and we want to remember all those young people of 350 Squadron who sacrificed their youth and their lives to defend their values.

Those two other ones have also really good looking tail art
