1/144 Zvezda 747-8 VC25B Bridge

Post by keavdog »

When I saw this new livery for Air Force One I was smitten. Respect the old livery but was never a fan of the baby blue. I sent a note to Greg at Draw decals and they had already started working on it and the decals showed up a few weeks ago. Had orignally planned for this to be a Lufthansa bird - modeling the plan I came back from India on in 2019.... So I have decals to trade ;) So next up

First step: Filling the windows. I used this technique on my 1/144 A380 and worked well.

Tape off the windows, use two part epoxy resin

Lower windows filled - takes about 24 hours to set. I'll reposition the fuselage halves to do the upper windows - this stuff runs if not level.

Doing a plane wheels up is always a problem getting the gear doors closed properly. This kit fit is amazing! I'm missing one bit (anyone with this kit that doesn't want the closed gears please help). Pretty awesome fit - more work to do but wow, pretty happy.

:hmm: That is gonna be a big one! You ought to be able to scratch up a replacement door using sheet styrene if you can’t get a spare part from someone. The shapes and contours are easy enough to create.

If I can't find/replace I'll do some surgery on the gear down door that's partially open.

Window fill turned out pretty good. Had a bit of seepage but nothing light sanding won't fix.
