More little progress adding up here. During the past everal days I painted the invasion strips on the wings, and did a bunch of balance testing filling the engine backings with lead birdshot until I was satisfied it would no longer be a tail sitter, and then glued the engines in place on the wings

Image

Image

I filled and sanded the gaps at the front of the horizontal stabilizers- Thankk goodness for needle files!

Image

then a test fit of the wings, wheels, and props for a photo

Image

and I have the nose and tail transparencies masked for painting... the compound curves on both were challenging...

Image

Happy 4th of July everybody...

That is coming along nicely. I can appreciate the amount of work you have put into this. Super job.

More progress today. Before anybody says WTF about some of the colors that I used in some areas, it's all based off of color photos that I found of Marauders in WWII off of the Life website... so here we go...
bombs- Polly Scale OD with MM Insignia Yellow fins...
Image

Props, blades Flat Black with OD hub. I still need to paint the base of each blade in bare metal
Image

ammo feed chutes in OD. In the next few days I will get all the detail painting done on this assembly so I can get them installed
Image

tail gunner and bombardier framing painted
Image

canopy framework painted
Image

engine cowlings painted
Image

and the big progress step for today- the wings glued on... this sucker is heavy now with all the weight in the engine nacelles
Image

since I go back to work tomorrow, it's gonna be more minor progress daily over the next four days.... keep watching...

LOL! Yes, each engine nacelle does resemble a P-47 strapped to the wing. They used the same engine. Thats one of several reasons that the Marauder was such a "hot ship"... lots of power!

I had a good airbrushing session today, took care of a few things. Plus my work over the past few days that I had not photgraphed before today.

Tail guns all finished and ready for installation
Image

Props ready for decals and then installation

Image

Now I had filled the nosewheel with birdshot, just in case to make sure this build will not tail sit. But even after I filed away as much as I could to glue the wheel halves together, there still was a sligh gap. I was not sure how to approach it until I thought of stretched sprue and lots of the hottest liquid cement that I have...

Image

I have since sanded it down and added tread with an xacto... worked like a charm...

and then I added some panel fade using Polly Scale USAAF Olive Drab over the Tamiya OD. If you look carefully, you can see where I dinged up the finish a bit and will need to go back and touch it up tomorrow... ah well....

Image

Image

and everything just about ready for gloss coat and decals in the next couple of days

Image

More updates tomorrow evening...
